Also featured in this video is Andy Saunders chairman of the St Albans Cricket club, Andy says: “ Myself and the team have been coming to dine at Tavah since they opened, Tavah are very much part of the St Albans cricket club – Tavah feature on the teams’ cricket shirts. Also, the Men’s cricket team recently decided to celebrate the end of the season this year with a meal at Tavah!”
Tavah’s head chef is Imran who is very passionate about authentic ingredients and cooking processes, Imran says “All our meat is freshly marinated – we marinate 24 hours before- it cooks much better this way and retains all the flavour of the herbs and spices. Our best seller is Namak Mandi – which is Spring lamb – it’s not too spicy. For the fish we use Cod which is a very meaty fish and it comprises 36 spices. Chicken Biriyani is layers of rice and chicken thigh and leg. Chana is our best seller for breakfast – another popular dish is Samosa Chaat we make the samosa ourselves. Beverages that we serve include fresh tea and lassi we have sweet and salty lassi – the naans we make fresh every day with our roti machine. We are very proud to have received a 5-star hygiene rating which we got on our very first inspection.”
